Netflix October 2017: Horror movies and series to watch

It’s a new month once again, which means new Netflix shows and movies. This month is more exciting because of Halloween, and Netflix made sure that you have a scary hell of a month with its lineup of horror/thriller movies and shows. Here are some of our recommendations.

13 Demons

A horror film with a dash of geekiness, “13 Demons” is about a group of gamers who stumble upon a medieval board game. Little do they know that the game has a dark history and was banned in several countries centuries ago due to unexplained deaths attributed to it. “13 Demons” is available on Netflix starting today, October 3.

Cult of Chucky (2017)

Remember Chucky, the killer doll that was probably the star of your nightmares during the ’90s? He’s still alive (which is not news at all), and this time his target is Nica, who is confined in a mental asylum. Chucky also goes out to take revenge on his former enemies with the help of his former wife. “Cult of Chucky” has a perfect 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It will be available on Netflix also on October 3.

Raw (2016)

Also known as “Grave” in France, “Raw” is described as a “gruesome horror” film which revolves around a young vegetarian who develops an “unbidden taste for meat” after a carnivorous hazing ritual. It has a high rating of 7/10 on IMDb and 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie is available on Netflix on October 4.

Mindhunter: Season 1

A Netflix original series, “Mindhunter” is based on the book “Mind Hunter: Inside The FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit” which is about an agent on the hunt for notorious serial killers and rapists. “Mindhunter” will be available on October 13.

The Mist: Season 1

Based on Stephen King’s 1980 novella “The Mist,” this American thriller series is about a “family torn apart by a heinous crime.” Things take a strange turn when the family is cut off from the rest of the world and predatory creatures appear. “The Mist” will be available on October 24.

Stranger Things: Season 2

Of course, we can’t leave out the most awaited series this month: “Stranger Things.” The hit Netflix original series finally returns on October 27, just in time for Halloween. We’ll finally know if Eleven is still alive, if Will is really over the Upside Down’s horror or not, and so much more. We can’t wait!
