Philippine Superliga team owners, in an emergency meeting held on Tuesday, November 7, unanimously voted to deny the appeal filed by Team Iriga to reconsider the one-year ban slapped on Grethcel Soltones on top of a P50,000 fine for seeing action in an unsanctioned match outside of the PSL – the All-Star game held by rival Premier Volleyball League last October 29.

The vote was 7-0, upholding the league’s decision to ban and fine Soltones, who should have been under contract with Team Iriga for one year. Team Iriga, however, stressed that it does not have a contract yet with Soltones, to the dismay of league officials who have imposed a rule on all teams to sign their players to the minimum of a one-year contract under a one-league policy. This means are barred from playing outside of the PSL while under contractual obligations with their respective teams.

Team Iriga could not vote during the deliberation. Victoria Sports-University of Santo Tomas, a guest team, also could not vote.

Soltones will be required to pay the fine under league rules.
