While there are are emerging love teams today, the top tandems such as KathNiel, JaDine, and AlDub continue to soar. For the rest of this year, such actors and actresses have projects lined up for them, but they’re not necessarily starring together in some. James Reid and Nadine Lustre are both venturing into solo projects, while Maine is said to star in a Metro Manila Film Festival movie without Alden Richards. Here’s what you can look forward to from these top love teams:
Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla will star in a Cathy Garcia-Molina film this year in Star Cinema’s 25th anniversary presentation. Titled “The Hows of Us,” the upcoming movie is one of Molina’s last four films, as the box office director is set to retire in 2019.
“The Hows of Us” is a light romance about a couple in a long-term relationship. The movie “will explore the perceived tendency of millennials to easily give up or lose interest, when it comes to a job or a relationship,” according to an article on ABS-CBN.
Daniel Padilla shared in an interview that the story resonates with him and Kathryn as they’re technically in a long-term relationship. He said that the movie delves on reasons why people stay in a long-term relationship or a job, and it’s bound to make the audience realize and discover such reasons.
“The Hows of Us” will reportedly be released on August 29, 2018.
This year, we saw JaDine in more mature roles in their movie “Never Not Love You,” which hit theaters in March. However, James Reid and Nadine Lustre are both set to do solo projects soon as various films are lined up for each of them.
James will be starring in “Pedro Penduko,” which will be a series of films about the local superhero. The first film is set to come out next year. Although it was supposed to only star James as it was reported that JaDine is taking a break, it was confirmed a few months back that Nadine will be in “Pedro Penduko” too. The actress will reportedly play Maria Makiling.
James will also star in “Miss Granny” opposite Sarah Geronimo. It’s an adaptation of a 2014 Korean film which will also star Xian Lim. “Miss Granny” is set to hit theaters on August 22.
Speaking of Xian Lim, Nadine will also star in her first film without James; this time she will be with Lim, AJ Muhlach, and Marco Gumabao. Nadine shared that the film will serve as her stepping stone and will test if she could really survive without James.
“I mean it’s healthy to be able to work separately and to work together at the same time. At least we both grow together and [get] to work separately,” she said.
The AlDub fever may not seem as strong as before, but the duo still ended up as the top love team, at least on Twitter, based on its mid-year charts. Aside from “Eat Bulaga” though, Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards don’t seem to have a future project together, as both are busy with their own careers.
Maine is set to release her first music album under Universal Records. Vic Sotto also confirmed that Maine will join him in his Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) movie this year alongside Coco Martin. The film will be called “Popoy En Jack: The Puliscredibles.”
“This is her first time going solo without the love team and dito magkakasubukan ng galing sa pag-arte talaga,” Sotto said.
Alden, meanwhile, will soon star in the GMA teleserye “Victor Magtanggol,” which is a new fantasy series. He will be paired with Janine Gutierrez in the new show which is set to premiere this month. The Pambansang Bae will also hold a concert in September called “Adrenaline Rush.” It will take place at Kia Theatre on September 21.
