Since its inception two years ago, Universal Events & Entertainment have been making sure that each staging of the Asia Pop Comic Con will be bigger and better than the last one. And this year's edition,  held on August 25-27 at the SMX Convention Center, did not disappoint.

Highlights include local and foreign celebrities, cosplayers, comic book artists, and toy designers. The biggest attractions, aside from Ray Fisher, Tyler Hoechlin and four cast members of “Stranger Things” (Noah Schnapp, Joe Keery, Dacre Montgomery, Sadie Sink), was the massive venue. Hall N was an interactive exhibit featuring interactive experiences for Netflix shows such as “Riverdale”, “Orange is the New Black”, “Stranger Things”, “Daredevil”, “Jessica Jones”, “Luke Cage”, “The Iron Fist”, and “The Defenders”. Each show had a different room and a different experience, in a recreated set of “The Defenders’” New York City. They also screened the Netflix original movie “Death Note” on Saturday evening.

Another big highlight of the convention was Hall M, in which C.B. Cebulski, the Vice President of MARVEL in Asia, showed exclusive MARVEL footage from MARVEL movies, TV shows and games, to one thousand lucky guests.

Other guests included celebrity cosplayers Alodia Gosiengfao, Haiden Hazard, Jin, Myrtle Sarrosa, Pion Kim, and Canvas Cosplay or Philip Odanga; toy designers Jason Freeny, Simone Legno, and Quiccs; comic book artists and creators such as Whilce Portacio, Shoji Kawamori, Alan Quah, Artgerm, Carl Potts and Rodney Ramos; and entertainers such as voice actor Gaku Space and Japanese Idol Serena Kozuki.

It was truly an event to remember, and it goes without saying that next year’s staging will probably be bigger than ever!

Until the next con! -- Katarina-Inez Miranda
