South Korea’s stylish tots: These kids have more fashion game than you

A new group of influencers is on the rise. This time, perhaps, they’re a bit more authentic and not at all overexposed. But they’re not quite different from the breed of young and hip trendsetters with a huge following. They can also strike cool, nonchalant poses on the camera, wear a mix of high and low brands, and walk with a natural swag. But if there’s one noticeable difference that makes them stand out, it’s that their ages range from three to six years old. They may have small heights but they’re definitely big with confidence. In fact, these little kids already have thousands of followers on Instagram even before they start pre-school! This is especially true in South Korea, where playing dress up is the children’s game and street style is their playground.

In Seoul, you’ll most likely see miniature versions of hypebaes and hypebeasts in full Supreme, Vetements, New Balance, Adidas, and all other athleisure brand regalia: the hypebabies. They attracted the most attention in Seoul Fashion Week, as they posed adorably in front of the street photographers, while their equally stylish moms coached them in the backgrounds.

Their arrival in the fashion scene is more than welcome, and this is what “Seoul Fashion Futures” (SFF) wants to create: a community where children’s wear designers can have all the creative freedom to showcase their work, and a chance for the moms to build confidence in their kids.

SFF is a runway event founded by Natalie Rapisarda, an Australian street-style photographer, and it aims to promote children’s wear labels made by up-and-coming and established South Korean designers.  “I was inspired to start this event after seeing so many talented children, their sense of style and natural ability to be confident in front of the camera,” she shares, “Seoul is still above all one of the best cities to be watching for emerging talents and trends.”

The show featured seven fashion labels, namely, So Little Urban, Plus Boo, Nanasong, I love Veg, Rockbebe, Bubble Kiss and Topaz.

So if you’re looking for the next fashion inspo, these little juniors have serious fashion game, and they’re here to school you on the latest trends both for the young and young at heart:
