Before the Facebook age, you had to call or meet with your family and friends to invite them to important events, such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, graduation, etc. Thanks to Facebook Events though, these days you don’t have to exert much effort in inviting people; all you have to do is create a Facebook Event and you’re good to go.
However, as convenient as Facebook Events may be, there are people who take the feature for granted by creating senseless events. Remember the “Suntukan sa Ace Hardware” FB event that went viral last April 2016? We admit, some of the events are hilarious, while some can be considered cyberbullying. Here are some of them.
Suntukan ni Daniel Padilla VS Xander Ford
Scheduled on November 7, this public event hosted by a certain Yvan Amiel was probably inspired by the supposed rift between Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla’s love team partner. Several weeks back, Xander Ford again went viral but for the wrong reason because a video of him mocking Kathryn was leaked online. Xander denied it at first, then admitted it and apologized to Kathryn. A few days ago it was reported that Xander will be suing those who uploaded the video. As of writing, 19,000 people have confirmed their attendance in the event, while 191,000 are interested.
Juan Ponce Enrile Immortality Workshop
If you have nothing to do on New Year’s Eve, this Facebook event offers you an alternative. Scheduled on December 31, the Juan Ponce Enrile Immortality Workshop is tagged as kid-friendly and with free admission. Though we don’t suggest you take this event seriously, we admit it’s a bit hilarious as Juan Ponce Enrile could pass off as the poster child of immortality. After all, at 93 years old, he still has the energy to dabble in political banter, and he has survived coup d’etats and even prison. So far, the Facebook event has 10,000 confirmed attendees and 43,000 interested.
Sabay Sabay Hiludan Ang Tuhod Ni Marlou
Also scheduled on December 31 and involving yet again Xander Ford, formerly known as Marlou, this public event is hosted by the Facebook page Lokohan Ba Gusto Mo? This event was inspired by Xander’s photo that went viral shortly after his “transformation.” The photo shows him holding a placard of Pretty Looks, which was responsible for his brow and lip tint, but netizens were quick to observe his dark knees. The photo gave birth to several memes, which garnered various reactions, with some bashing the aspiring actor while others defended him, saying nobody’s perfect.
