More than 10,000 runners converged at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Open Grounds on Sunday, January 7, to kick off 2018 with CM Paradise Run.
Already on its sixth year, Color Manila, the country’s biggest concept ‘fun run’ organizer, has already brought together 160,000 participants after holding almost one race per month.
“Each year, we try to come up with a different concept that our runners will enjoy and would make the experience memorable. Thank you to all our followers, we wouldn’t last this long without your support,” said Justine Cordero, Color Manila VP.
WORK AND PLAY
From common folks to celebrities like Dingdong Dantes, Xian Lim, Sam YG, Kim Atienza, Ico Ejercito, and beauty queens, among others, CM Paradise Run was one big, colorful party. Members of the media also joined in on the fun, one of them is longtime sportscaster and blogger Anthony Servinio.
“I have have supported CM events ever since the first one held in January 2013 but only to the extent of helping with the publicity. However, the first time I actually participated in a CM race was in last January’s 5th edition. After five years, I guess it was time to finally give it a try.” shared Servinio, a self-confessed “running freak.”
“The reason why I finally joined last year was the attraction of having a long distance (21km) offered for the first time. Starting the New Year with a long race is always touted as a means of burning off the Christmas weight and setting the tone for the rest of the year.”
What sets CM events, Servinio said, is how he can mix having fun with working on being hit and active.
“I like CM races because in the three races that I joined (5th CM 21k, 1st CM Marathon 42k last September and this 6th CM Paradise 21k), I am not pressured to perform well and just have fun.”
Indeed, Color Manila is one event runners always look forward to – nevermind that they will end up looking like Avatar characters – and next leg set for February 24, the CM Blacklight Run, at McKinley West in BGC is definitely going to be another race to remember.
